Where Can I Serve?
There are so many opportunities to serve as part of our church family, listed below are just a few of the different areas. For more information, don’t hesitate to contact the church office.
Warm Welcome
The warm welcome team at Pleasant Valley Church fills a very important role. This is the group of volunteers who look after Sunday mornings, and is made up of the following groups: ushers and greeters, refreshment team, tellers, communion preparation.
Ushers and Greeters
The usher and greeter team at Pleasant Valley Church fills an important role. They are involved in welcoming attendees into the church, providing direction to visitors, ensuring the safety of the building during services, answering questions, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The usher and greeter team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life.
Refreshment Team
Part of the welcoming atmosphere at Pleasant Valley is the ability to have a cup of coffee or tea and chat before and after the Sunday morning service. Our group of dedicated volunteers make this possible. Every Sunday morning they show up early in order to have the coffee hot when everyone else arrives, and they make sure everything is cleaned up afterwards.
Tellers
Pleasant Valley is very fortunate to have in place an accountable group of people to count the tithes and offerings every Sunday morning.
Meal Ministry
In the Bible we are instructed to extend hospitality to Christian brothers and sisters. 3 John 1:5. At Pleasant Valley one of the ways we practice this hospitality is by providing meals for people within our congregation who could use a meal for various reasons. It may be after the birth of a baby, after surgery, or a meal for a family who has suffered a loss. We are always looking for volunteers to help out on an occasional basis for this very important ministry.
Music
God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of Pleasant Valley Church, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.
Media & Technology
Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of Pleasant Valley Church. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. Every week we work to design a power point presentation which provides announcements and a sermon outline. All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in audio format. We also maintain an active Facebook page for additional church communication.
Prayer
Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Pleasant Valley Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Throughout the week, we have an updated prayer chain email team pray for any and all praises and requests.
Adventure Kids
In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, Plesasant Valley holds a children’s Sunday School in conjunction with the main service. This special time gives kids more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles.
Nursery
We want to provide a safe, comfortable and fun atmosphere for our babies, toddlers and preschoolers so that you, as parents can feel free to enjoy our worship service with the peace of mind that your little ones are being well looked after. From just before the beginning of the Sunday morning service until it finishes, our nursery and toddler areas accomodate newborns to 2-year-olds, while upstairs, our preschooler room is for kids aged 3 and 4.
Elementary
Our friendly Sunday School teachers have an endless stream of creativity–ranging from age-appropriate worship songs, to games, crafts and object lessons. Our Sunday morning teachings are based on traditional Bible stories that can be made into life application lessons. Our classes are broken up into grade SK-1, grades 2-3 and grades 4-5.
Youth
Our youth groups, more commonly known as Reach and Thrive, meet every Friday evening at the church. They actively participate in various events around and outside of our community. They focus on being intentional in fulfilling what God has put ous on the earth to do….being a true light in a world that has so much darkness.

Evangelism
Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations.
One of the most important values of Pleasant Valley Church is our desire to fulfill the great commission, starting here in our own community. We aim to make an impact directly on our neighbours through our own events, and also by helping other churches with their community impact events.
