Easter!                                               Matthew 28

Nobody expected no body!

In six words, the Resurrection says this:

Jesus is truly God over all!

Jesus has authority over ________ things

An important difference between power and authority

Authority is power in ________ hands

The Resurrection shows Jesus has Authority

1)  Jesus has authority over _____ and ________

No one took Jesus’ life.  He gave it

John 10:17-18   The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life–only to take it up again. 18  No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”

1 Corinthians 15:20-22

But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21  For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.
22  For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.

2)  The Resurrection shows Jesus has authority over                                           _____ and Satan

Romans 6:23   For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 Peter 2:24  He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

God and Satan are NOT equals

Colossians 2:13-15
13  When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14  having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. 15  And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

3)  Jesus has authority over _____ and I

John 5:26-27   For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son to have life in himself. 27  And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man.

Want to see how bad our sins were… look to the Cross for God’s judgment of sin

Want to see how much God loves you… look to the Cross and Jesus’ sacrifice on YOUR behalf!

God us a choice of what we do with that love.

Accept it… accept Jesus’ forgiveness and leadership for this Life and the Life to Come

Reject Him in this Life and you’re rejecting Him for the life to come.

No matter where you’ve been.  No matter what you’ve done

You are never beyond the reach of God’s grace

Trust Jesus as Your Forgiver and Leader:

Admit you are a sinner and deserve

Believe that Jesus died for you and Rose from the dead…

Commit your life to Him!
